Letter to the WSJD Community
Jeff Cohen, President
June 2011
The WSJD Board has been working hard on your behalf on various projects since the new officers were elected in mid-March. In this message, we would like to share a brief update on what we have accomplished to date.
NEW OFFICERS: First, we are pleased to announce and welcome to WSJD Board the following new Members at Large officers:
- Michael Peterson (Programming Member at Large) He will oversee both religious and educational programming activities on behalf of WSJD.
- Karen Alkoby (Social Media Member at Large) She will oversee web content development from various sources, including WSJD events, Facebook and other related areas.
- Hillel Goldberg (Fundraising Member at Large) He will work with the Board to identify and pursue fundraising opportunities and grants.
We thank those of you have expressed interest in being part of a committee to support all of our projects. We will be contacting you soon.
WEBSITE: We have begun work on the new WSJD website which should be open for all to see soon. We have engaged the services of Tayler Mayer who will be developing the website. Suzy Rosen-Singleton and newly elected member Karen Alkoby will be working with Tayler and other individuals to ensure that we launch the website sometime this summer. New email addresses tied to the website for Board members will be coming soon.
FACEBOOK: We have begun work on creating a new Facebook page for WSJD and this will be announced shortly. Be on the lookout for the URL!
501 C3: An application for 501 C3 tax-exempt status has been filed with the IRS mid April. We expect to hear from them in the next few weeks.
ASL HIGH HOLY DAYS SERVICES: We are in the midst of finalizing dates, location and spiritual leaders for the ASL High Holy Days services. As soon as we finalize details we will share the information with you.
JEWISH COMMUNITY LEADERS: I have been meeting with various Jewish leaders and organizations in the community to publicize what we are doing and to secure their support in the form of funding and resources.
YOUR INPUT IS NEEDED: Last but not least, we will be creating programs for you and would like your input on the types of events you would like to participate in. We also welcome your input on what you would like to see on our website. Please email your ideas or suggestions to Jeff Cohen at [email protected].
Stay tuned for exciting announcements and final details.
Shalom,
