The Lexington School and Center for the Deaf in Jackson Heights, NY and Jewish Heritage Project published a booklet, “Deaf People in the Holocaust: The Extraordinary Story”.
The booklet, printed in 2003, includes narrative, stories form U.S. and Hungarian deaf survivors, an afterword by Rabbi Irving Greenberg, and lists sources.
Also included is illustrations by deaf Holocaust survivor David Bloch, photos of the Israelite Institution for the Deaf, a map from The Holocaust Enyclopedia.
The book was edited by Jane Alpert with writing and research by Erik Wasson and guidance from Jeffrey Bravin, Dr. Oscar Cohen and Dr. Kevin J. Keane.
