In the article, Rothschild points out that “Members of the Deaf community have achieved success in many fields, as currency worldwide attests.” Did you know that Elisha Gallaudet, great nephew of Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet engraved the first U.S. coin, the Continental Curency dollar?
He shared other famous figures associated with Deafness: Helen Keller, Alexander Graham Bell, Francisco Goya, Thomas Edison, Ludwig Von Beethoven, Bedrich Smetana, Samuel F.B. Morse and Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. The 8-page article is chockful of intriguing tidbits.
