Israel Prize in psychology research to Prof. Yitzhak Schlesinger

Education Minister Naftali Bennett has announced that Professor Yitzhak Schlesinger of the Department of Psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem will be awarded the Israel Prize in the field of psychology research on Independence Day.

The prize committee called Prof. Schlesinger “one of the most important scientists in the field of psycholinguistics,” and said he “has contributed to the study of the linguistic processing of language development in children and has pioneered the documentation and conceptualization of sign language in Israel.” Its statement continued, “His work in the field of Talmudic argumentation, in connection with general issues in linguistic expression, is a unique contribution. His innovations are deeply entwined in Hebrew culture and language.”
