High Holiday Services – Florida

CongregationOhevShalomCongregation Ohev Shalom is offering High Holiday services interpreted in American Sign Language on the first morning of Rosh Hashanah and the morning of Yom Kippur:

      Rosh Hashanah – Day I – Monday, September 17, 2012 – 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

      Yom Kippur – Wednesday, September 26, 2012 – 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Rabbi David Kay, a hearing rabbi will officiate. According to Congregation Ohev Shalom’s website, Rabbi David Kay became their first Assistant Rabbi in August 2004. Ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in May 2002, he also received his MA in Jewish Education. During rabbinical school, he served as a student Rabbi for several congregations, including Shalom Independent Congregation of Johannesburg, South Africa.

“Active in the Jewish Deaf community since 1990, Rabbi Kay has presented at the biennial Jewish Deaf Congress conferences, serving as one of the conference rabbis in 2003 and 2005. He also conducted High Holiday services in voice and sign language at the Rochester Institute of Technology / National Technical Institute of the Deaf for five years, and conducted services and taught for the Hebrew Association of the Deaf of New York and Congregation Bene Shalom of the Deaf in Skokie, IL.”
