Shirley Pinto appeared on Israeli TV to discuss the failure of the Israeli Ministry to recognize and provide transparent mask for service providers who serve Deaf and hard of hearing clients.
Pinto mentioned an online petition “Join the demand to approve an accessible mask!” that states “The Ministry of Health has not yet approved a transparent mask that will be usable by service providers for the deaf and hard of hearing.”
“I have approached them several times for answers regarding the approval of a transparent mask so that it can be distributed to any public and governmental body, and anywhere. As usual – they replied that it was being tested.”
Nine months has passed and she points out “There are models of transparent masks approved by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration)… “I do not intend to pass it on quietly. Sending a letter to the Minister of Health demanding the final approval of a transparent mask and providing it to any public body in the country, now!”
