Fifty-four boys and girls celebrated their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs Monday in the Council of Young Israel Rabbis for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired.
The Judaic Heritage Program for the Deaf, sponsored by the Council and partially supported by the Jewish Agency for Israel, conducts an annual Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony after months of training deaf boys and girls in the basics of Judaism and the ethics of Jewish adulthood.
The youth participated in a day-long program, ceremony, tour and luncheon in Jerusalem together with their parents.
