Dear Member of WSJD Community,
The year 2014 was a humbling time of tremendous change for myself and for WSJD:
1. WSJD hired a Director of Life and Learning;
2. Steve Weiner became the “face” of our fund raising campaign;
3. Donations tripled in 2014 to over $9,000;
4. WSJD doubled the number of events held during the fall of 2014;
5. I began my tenure as a member at large on the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington board of directors, and
6. Barbara Morris Fraenkel replaced Mike Peterson as a new member at large; Susan Cohen began her second and final term of three years as secretary.
7. I began my second and final term of three years as president of WSJD.
During 2014, WSJD began offering more events, engaging new volunteers, increasing participation in the community, and much more. I am thankful for the generosity of our donors, all of our volunteers, our Board of Directors, and the community for their continued support. Without the backing of the community, we would not be where we are today.
As president of WSJD, I have continued to forge relationships with Hillel at Gallaudet, the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, Rabbi Yehoushua Soudakoff, and other rabbis, cantors, and Jewish lay leaders in my continued effort to give more visibility to our organization.
I need your help in 2015. Please consider doing more for WSJD by:
1. sharing information about WSJD, what we do and our events, so that we can grow our community base;
2. volunteering your time;
3. engaging members of Hillel at Gallaudet – we need to get our young people engaged;
4. increasing the number of WSJD learning opportunities; and
5. continuing to donate so that WSJD can increase its level of activity.
Together, we can make 2015 as fabulous as 2014, or better!
