Jewish Deaf Multimedia (JDMM) in Los Angeles, CA posted, during January, a two-part interview with Lotte (Charlotte) Friedman, a deaf Holocaust survivor. The interviews were conducted by Rachel Soudakoff.
Part 1: “Lotte has lived through many different challenges, from the moment she was born deaf to adapting to a new American lifestyle after coming to this country in 1940”, the JDMM announcement states, “She was also witness to one of Germany’s most horrific moments of destruction: Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass).
“We also hope that Lotte’s story will inspire us to grow as Jewish deaf people. She went through tough times, but she never forgot that she was Jewish. Today, our lives are relatively peaceful – how much more so should we appreciate and cherish our Judaism!”

Part 2: “Lotte has lived through many different challenges, from the moment she was born deaf to adapting to a new American lifestyle after coming to this country in 1940. She stayed in an internment camp for nine months in Holland, and she shares some of her experiences there in this video. When she was in Holland, she also met Anne Frank and her family!”
