Ido Dar-el, who considers himself “a solo pro surfer”, is raising funds on indiegogo, a fundraising website, to participate in the 2013 International Deaf Surfriders Association World Championships surfing contest which will be held in Hawaii, USA in February.
Ido has incorporated a nonprofit organization, “Deaf Surfers Israeli Association”, and manages a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/DeafSurfersIsrael?ref=hl.

im deaf in both ears,father to kai & lani,married to a great supporting hearing wife,ori.
been surfing 30 years as the only deaf pro surfer and surf coach/trainee,in israel.
estabilished non-profit org called DeafSurfersIsrael with no funds,
our porpuse is to give deaf kids n youth ocean safety and surfing education.
more then 200 deaf got excited happy n safe in our waves.
i need to go to hawaii because if i win the championship
ill get in israel formal recognition n support from authorities for my org!
so giving more deaf happinness and healthy ocean education
also being as the only authorized deaf surf coach in the world,
i could to share my knowledge to deafs world wide there at hawaii.
we need to cover flight/accomodations/equipment expenses
flight from israel is expensive-at least 1600$
not including surfboard transfare that could get easily 200$ per one
hawaii is expensive for living-200$ a day food sleep car/
need 14 day to be there ,at least a week before comp to know the enormous waves and get used to equipment unique only to hawaiian waves.
surfboards cost between 400-600$ used ones.need 2 at least.
and few days after competition to give surfing lessons and share my knowledge to other deaf to open surfschools/orgs worlwide.

also got highest score in competition in my semi-finals.
