Albert “Al” Berke died on 12 October 2020. He died just as he lived, fighting and fiercely independent until the end, with his beloved dog, Josie, by his side. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Dave and Sydell Berkowitz, he was a lifelong Brooklyn Dodgers fan and even skipped school to make it to Ebbet’s field. A graduate of Fanwood, Gallaudet College (now University), class of 1956, and the University of Cincinnati, Al lived in many states before settling in Anchorage, AK in 1983. He leaves behind two children and grandchildren.
