Lucy was born in Talheim, Germany to Herbert and Sidonie Werthheimer and the entire family emigrated to Argentina and then to New York City, arriving in the US when she was 9 years old. She attended the Lexington School for the Deaf in New York City. After graduation, she met and married Sammy and had her two boys. When her children were in middle and high school respectively, she went to Hunter College to earn her B.A. and M.A. in Education. She became an elementary and middle school teacher at the New York School for the Deaf, Fanwood for over ten years and was a living example of how it is never too late to get a college education. She was involved with the New York City Civics Association of the Deaf and served as chaperone for Miss New York at the Miss Deaf America pageant for several years.
After her husband’s death, Lucy moved to Bethesda, Maryland to be near her sons and grandchildren, and she very much enjoyed residing at the Promenades for 26 years. She worked as a substitute teacher at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School and Model Secondary School for the Deaf for several years.
Lucy loved life and enjoyed visiting museums, art exhibits, reading books, spending time with friends, and traveling. Her family was very important to her and she was involved with all holiday and family events. She is greatly missed by us and we cherish our wonderful memories of her times and life.

Decades later, I got divorced so was Linda’s. I moved and live in Southeast Florida in 1995. Linda lived in the Pocono Mountains with her son, Ivan. In 2013, I was working as a Bartender at the deaf club, Palm Beach County Association of the Deaf (PBCAD) when Linda came to visit, our eyes met each other and our jaws dropped. Six months later, we chatted via videophone. The rest is history with happy notes!!!
