Son Brother Husband Father Friend. Ben was born in NYC to Albert and Blanche Finkin. He was the first born to the Finkin family and with his younger brother, Artie grew up in Richmond Hill NY and lived in NYC almost all his life.
At 5 years of age Ben became Deaf due to illness. He attended Lexington School for the Deaf and graduated in 1934. He then studied in trade school to learn sheet metal drafting. As a draftsman he designed air conditioning duct work for many structures in NYC including the World Trade Center, Cooper Union and upstate at West Point where his granddaughter Alexis is serving in the Army today.
He was married to Renee Finkin for an unprecedented 70 years. Together they were very active at the Hebrew Association for the Deaf where Ben served as President.
He is survived by two sons Steve and Mark and their wives Randi and Susan as well as five grandchildren; Alexis, Adam, Jordan, Seth and Bethany.
