Longtime Tifereth Israel member Marcia Goldberg died on February 11, 2017, 15 Shevat 5777, after a long illness. She was 73. She is survived by her two children, Eliot (Traci) Goldberg and Devra (Avi) Weiss, and grandchildren Samuel and Jaren Goldberg and Jerusalem and Shalom Weiss as well as a sister, Cydney (Norman) Josephy. She was predeceased by her husband Jeremy Goldberg. Both Marcia and Jeremy served as Presidents of Tifereth Israel.
Marcia was active in the Jewish Deaf community for many years. In the 1970s, she organized Jewish activities at Gallaudet University. Over the years, she prepared several Jewish Deaf boys for their bar mitzvah. Most recently until her retirement, she was the coordinator for the Jewish Deaf Group Home in Rockville.
