Rabbi Rebecca Dubowe, interim rabbi at Moses Montefiore Temple in Bloomington, Illinois, will deliver the commencement address to graduates at Delaware Valley University on May 14 on the campus green. A leader of the Jewish deaf community, Dubowe is the first woman who is deaf to be ordained a rabbi. She felt the call to the rabbinate during two trips to Israel as a young woman. After completing two years at California State University, Northridge, she transferred to the University of Judaism (now American Jewish University), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Jewish studies.
