Martin Florsheim and Carol Trachtenberg have announced the newly-established Florida Society of Jewish Deaf, Inc. (FSJD) to serve Jewish Deaf and Hard of Hearing population in the State of Florida and the surrounding areas.
“Although this organizations’ home base will be in Palm Beach County,” their announcement says, “we welcome friends who are not Jewish or live out of state as social members; whom will be able to participate in this organization but can not vote or hold an office.
“The purposes of this organization are to:
1. Serve the cultural, spiritual, educational, and social needs of Jewish Deaf adults, children, and CODAs
2. Promote Jewish identity and values
3. Celebrate the rich Jewish practices and traditions passed down through generations
4. Engage in any lawful activities that are in furtherance of the purposes of FSJD
“In the future, we plan to host events in celebration of Jewish holidays and traditions, organized trips, Jewish Education programs, social activities for all ages and exposure to the Jewish culture.
Please join us to support our newly founded FSJD in our mission to keep the Jewish Deaf community alive and strong.”
