Baltimore, MD – Sept 2013 – The Macks Center for Jewish Education, an agency of The Associated Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, announces a new funding initiative to provide access to Jewish life for deaf and hard of hearing Jews in Baltimore. No Jew should be left behind!  Communication is the only obstacle preventing deaf and hard of hearing Jews from participating fully in Jewish life, read: services, school and synagogue events, Jewish lectures, classes, programs etc.

This year, if a Jewish deaf or hard of hearing person wants to attend a Jewish event in Baltimore, JADE, Jewish Advocates for Deaf Education, will provide $50 per event toward a sign language or oral interpreter.

ALL Jewish organizations, synagogues and agencies are being encouraged to welcome deaf and hard of hearing Jews to their events by adding the following line to all promotional materials:
