The Westchester Muslim Community & The New York School for the Deaf hosted an event with both deaf immigrant teen Aneta Brodski and hearing Muslim Palestinian slam poet Tahani performs poetry at Congregation Kol Ami.
Their announcement says this is “an extraordinary event — which breaks barriers of race, language, religion and culture.”
They said Westchester Jewish, Muslim and deaf teens were participating. The “Deaf Jam” documentary was hailed by Huffington Post as “a riveting documentary” and won numerous awards. The event took place on Friday, April 12, 2013.
