Temple Beth Solomon of the Deaf Celebrates 50th

TBSannivThe Congregation News, a publication of Temple Beth Solomon of the Deaf (TBS) in Northridge, CA reported that 230 people attended TBS’s 50th aniversary gourmet brunch held at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills.

Jan Seeley coordinated the event, and Bummy Burstein was master of ceremonies. Quotes from guests: “This was indeed an inspiring event,” says Roz Rosen.

“I can’t remember the last time I felt so nostalgic like I did at the 50th” said Bernard Bragg.

“I was so happy to attend the 50th, the program was splendid” says Sam Block.

TBSanniv2One of the guests participating was past TBS rabbi Alan Henkin who shared remarks during ceremonies.

In addition to Jan Seeley, TBS president Joe Slotnick also attributed success of the event to TBS board members Maurice and Ruth Richter, Gary Jacobson, Elaine Aikins and Adele Podolsky; TBS members Carol Trachtenberg and Joyce Linden, past members Charles Katz and Marla Petal, and honorary committee members Marlee Matlin, Shoshannah Stern, Bernard Bragg and Rabbi Solomon Kleinman for lending their names and helping promote the event.

Charles Katz put together a souvenir DVD that accompanied the program book which included a 30-minute montage of early TBS movies and 320 photographs from the past 50 years. Home movies from the archives of Alvin Klugman were digitized and incorporated, thanks to Klugman’s daughter, Peggy Cronin.
