Hillel at UGA welcomes a Holocaust speaker, organized with the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust and the Daffodil Project. Join the event to hear stories from a survivor and the lasting effects these traumatic events have had on their family.
The speaker is Emily Yehezkel from Long Island, New York, who currently serves as experiential education director and a teacher at Temple Sinai. Previously, she was the development and communications associate at Israel Policy Forum. She holds a Master of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies and Experiential Israel and Jewish Education from The George Washington University and bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language/English Interpreting from Kent State University. Outside of work, Emily loves to travel, write, take photos, learn new languages, and be outdoors.
Yehezkel completed a training through 3GNY, a Holocaust education nonprofit organization, to learn how to effectively tell her grandfather, Martin Brown’s, Holocaust survival story in February 2021. Since then, she has spoken in five high school classes in New York and one sixth grade class at Temple Sinai. She is working with the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust continue researching and telling his story.
