The International Jewish Deaf Boys Camp launched its 2021 summer season, this time in the country of Georgia. Finally, after so long in isolation, they enjoyed life exploring our Jewish-Deaf identity.
Its talented and dedicated staff made this video to welcome the boys – and for you all to enjoy.
The camp ended August 4th. Their Facebook posting says ” Just 36 hours ago, we were all together signing “Modeh Ani” on the last morning of our camp, and now we are back in our own separate homes. The silence of no more campers and staff around feels so strange.
And yet, that was the purpose of the camp: to get together and strengthen ourselves in our Judaism and Deafness, and THEN go back home and apply that newfound knowledge and confidence in our own personal lives.
So I say: this is not the end! This is just the beginning of many, many more good things to come, each and every one of us in our own homes, and on our paths in life.”
