Ma’agalei Shema is creating “I Love You” in sign language sculptures to raise funds for its programs. This organization was formed in 2018 by a merger between Shema and the Institute for the Advancement of Deaf People. According to a reply email from Yehuda Lanzkron, “Our mission is to advance the best possible integration of deaf and hearing impaired people into mainstream society. Our programs serve deaf and hearing impaired people ages 6-40, addressing needs at each stage of life, nurturing engagement and active involvement in Israeli society.”
“To date, about 400 sculptures have been painted, about 100 of which have been painted by deaf and hard of hearing children and youth.” Their website, when we last checked, states that 45 have been sold so far.
