New book: “The Deaflympics Games and the Jews”

Author Rafael Pinchas has published a new book listing 114 medal-winning Jewish athletes from 16 different countries who excelled at the Deaflympics Games in 18 various sports since 1928. These athletes won altogether 266 medals, including 107 gold, 81 silver and 78 bronze, at both Summer and Winter Games!

Pinchas writes about an American Jewish athlete who was the first Jewish athlete in U.S. Deaf sports history to win a gold, silver, and bronze medals at the same Games in 1957, and a Jewish Hungarian female, 14 years old who became the youngest gold medal winner in table tennis!

The author says the book is chockful of interesting Jewish Deaf sports tidbits! We learn the backgrounds of 114 Games medal-winning Jewish athletes and see photos of them. The book has information on twenty Deaf sports personalities who are Jewish from different countries who contributed to the progress and wellbeing of the Deaf sports world, and the Deaflympics movement.

This book allows readers to browse through the fate of Deaf and Jewish athletes, coaches and leaders, their sporting exploits – especially at major sporting events for the Deaf people, the Deaflympics Games.
