Rabbi Yehoshua Soudakoff of Chushim Ben Dan, a Chabad program for deaf and hard of hearing community in Rishon Leziyon, Israel launched a fundraising campaign to hire more deaf employees to focus on three areas: create weekly online sign language opportunities, launch a network of deaf and hard of hearing Jews who use Russian Sign Language, and extend their activities to include programs for senior citizens and children.
They are welcoming monthly donations to ensure their stability as a nonprofit organization. “Together we’ll open the door wide and ensure a beautiful tomorrow for our Jewish deaf global community,” their website says.
“Together we build an accessible and warm community that allows every deaf and hard of hearing to connect to Judaism at eye level and in our language and culture.” Donations can be made through the Chushim Ben Dan website at www.give.org.il/en/campaign/chushim/
