Susan F. Cohen, president of Washington Society of Jewish Deaf (WSJD) reported on their Annual General Meeting held at Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington on Sunday, May 5th.
“Forty-four people gathered for the Annual meeting, election, and the informative “Life in Uzbetkistan” presentation by Sofia Seitchik, at Susan and Jeff Cohen’s home on June 2. Several people have asked for part two of Sofia’s talk! Thank you, Sofia!
“This year has been an incredible year for WSJD and the community. We rejoiced along with the Rosen-Strom family during WSJD’s first pilot bar mitzvah program; we mourned the death of former WSJD Board members, Terry Bittker and Lucy Lewis; we comforted WSJD members who lost their family members; we learned together through museum visits and programs; we connected and jointly planned programs with community partners, such as the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and synagogues. We grew as a community.”
