Ifat Levi Z”L – Feb 19
On February 16, 2018, my future sister-in-law tragically passed away from a brain aneurysm.
Ifat lived in Holon, Israel and had just turned 39 years old a few weeks prior. She leaves behind her 12 year old son, mother, father, two brothers, Paternal grandmother, extended family, and many friends.
Complications as a baby left Ifat unable to hear. Although she grew up deaf she never let that deter her from integrating herself into the society around her. She became active in the deaf community, making tons of friends of course, in addition to working outside that community from clothing stores to a recent job with a tech company.
Ifat never let her disability run her life, in fact she embraced it and pushed forward accomplishing so much , including raising the smartest 12 year old I have ever seen.
Her strength and perseverance are always something that I will admire and strive to attain. Ifat was a true example of not letting a disability deter you from accomplishing greatness.
I would like to honor her memory and greatness by helping other deaf people in Israel realize that they too can overcome their disability and integrate themselves into the society around them.
I have chosen to raise money for The Institute for The Advancement of Deaf Persons in Israel, in Ifat’s honor.
This organization runs and is a part of many different programs that offers vast amounts of programs and resources to deaf people in Israel. From advocacy of their health care, to teaching them their rights and many great resources in between this organization truly pushes for their advancement and acceptance into Israel society.
