New JDMM video: Parshas Emor

ParshasEmorThis weekly video from Jewish Deaf Multimedia (JDMM), focuses on Parshas Emor.

This parshas contains the mitzvah (commandment) of "Counting the Omer." We do this every year between the two holidays of Passover and Shavuos.

What is this counting all about, and what lesson can we learn from it?

Learn How to Use Sign Language to Communicate With a Crying Baby

FairLawnCenterAttend Tuesday's workshop from 7:30-9 p.m. at Fair Lawn Jewish Center

The following press release was submitted by UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey

Your baby is six months old and crying. You don’t know what’s wrong because she can’t speak. But not to worry; there’s a way you can find out, make the crying stop, and have a happy baby once more.

On Tuesday [May 3], 7:30-9 p.m. at Fair Lawn Jewish Center, 10-10 Norma Ave., Jessica Tratner—a resident of Fair Lawn and a teacher of the deaf at St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf in the Bronx—will show how, with a series of easy-to-learn signs, moms and dads can find out what’s wrong, learn, and then teach that baby or toddler sign language that will make communicating infinitely easier.

Shalom Baby, a support group that welcomes moms and dads of newborns and newly adopted through age 3, promotes Jewish identity and belonging in northern New Jersey. It holds monthly play groups, family programs, special events, and runs programs like this one, that make sit easier for moms and dads during this life-altering part of life.

For more information, contact UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey at 201-820-3921.
