Barbara Ella Boyd

BoydDror2September 7, 1944 – February 14, 2011

A giant has departed from our realm. She left not just a strong but a gigantic impression on many of us that she touched. Her trademark smiles, chuckles and twinkles in the eye will be missed. She was a teacher, friend, mom and mentor to many of us. She retired last year from the National Center on Deafness (NCOD) at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) after working there for more than 30 years.

First International Jewish Deaf Purim Shabbaton in Rochester

shabbatonJoshua Soudakoff has informed JDCC that "the first ever International Jewish Deaf Purim Shabbaton" will be held in Rochester, NY.

The planning committee who is putting the event together is Al Spanjer, Diana Pryntz, Regina Kiperman, and Beth Metlay.

"I will personally be present at the shabbaton, which starts from Friday, March 18 and ends Sunday, March 20. We are flying in Rabbi and Rebbetzin Friedman as well."
