Letters to the Editor

editorDear Readers,

So much to do in so little time! There have been some major changes happening around here. David Rosenbaum, who played a key role for JDCC News, has relocated to South Dakota and is working at Communication Services for the Deaf with Deaf Expo's projects. I have had to learn some ropes here and there since he took care of this department for 10+ years! A learning experience for me... and we have Theresa Shellabarger helping us out in the office as well as with JDCC News. And thanks to Kenneth Rothschild for handling the bulk mailing department with our newsletter and Passover invitations, etc. Also to Rachel Braver, Ruth & Percy Morris, Rebecca Lovitch and the Soudakoff kids for their help in stuffing the Passover invitations).

JDCC's Passover invitations have gone out so look out for it. If you have not received it, please contact us and we will be glad to send you one. The "early bird" prices are $15 off for singles, $30 off for couples, and will expire after March 1st, so don't delay, get your seats! Information is also on page 5. Don't forget to mark your calendar to attend JDCC's 9th annual Community Seder on Thursday, April 17th at 7 p.m.

JDCC will have their elections in June so if you're interested in running for a Board position, contact us with a letter explaining the position you are interested in and what you would like to accomplish as a board member.

Happy Tu B'Shevat and Purim!!!

My name is Alana and I am a 20 year old College Student. at University of Albany, NY. I took 2 years of ASL and was almost fluent. I have a lot of experience with signing with children. I haven't used Sign Language In almost two years and Im very scared of losing it. I enjoy it very much and am looking for a program to become involved in, in which 1 can use my knowledge of sign language. Where are you located? Please write back to me and let me know, if there is any program you offer which I could joint =) Thank you,

I have a 16 yr old deaf grandson, and he is very interested in learning about the Jewish Tradition. The rabbi here in Oregon is indifferent and I find it hard to sign some of the Hebrew prayers. Is there a book or a web site that could help me on this? Any help is appreciated. Thank you. Shalom
