* Mildred Jean Zisman, Rockville, MD - December 3, 2014

Mildred Jean Zisman, 87 passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was the devoted and loving daughter of Cecelia K. and Maurice Folsom who preceded her in death.  Also preceding her was beloved husband of 45 years, Isadore "Izzy" Zisman.

Jean was born and grew up in Washington, D.C.  She attended the Kendall School for the Deaf in northeast DC and graduated in 1944.  She then enrolled at Gallaudet College on the same campus where she graduated in 1949. Jean lived in Washington, DC until 2004 when she moved to Rockville.

She was a passionate fan of local sports teams and attended sporting events at all 3 stadiums-Griffith, RFK, and FedEx-as well as Nationals Park, Capital Centre and Verizon Center.   She was a community volunteer and was active in the Phi Kappa Zeta Sorority, Maryland Deaf Senior Citizens, Washington Society of Jewish Deaf, and the now closed National Fraternal Society of the Deaf among other community organizations.  She also enjoyed bowling leagues and local tournaments.
