For the first time in nearly a decade, Gesher Disability Resources (formerly the Council For Jews With Special Needs) will be providing sign language interpretation for High Holiday services. Gesher is partnering with Temple Emanuel of Tempe to provide the services.

“It has been almost 10 years since we provided sign language interpreters community-wide during the High Holidays, and we are thrilled to be able to do this, especially with such a great partner as Temple Emanuel,” said Amy Hummell, Gesher’s executive director.

The Kol Nidre service on the evening of Sept. 29 and the Yom Kippur day services on Sept. 30 will also feature sign language interpretation. All services will be held at Dayspring Church in Tempe.

“The High Holidays are for everyone,” said Dean Shapiro, senior rabbi of Temple Emanuel. “We are pleased to partner with Gesher Disability Resources to enable more people to feel the spirit of teshuvah, the warmth of community and the beauty of our Jewish traditions.”

A non-members requested ticket donation of $125 per service is suggested, though no one will be turned away due to an inability to pay.
