Letters to the Editor

Dear Readers,
Our deepest apologies for the oversight in including Scott Seigal's introduction in our last issue on the Jewish Deaf-Blind Community article.

On page 5 under Maintaining Independence after Jaime Recht's introduction, the missing introduction should be as follows:

Scott Seigal was born Deaf and Ushers Syndrome in a hearing family. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and now resides in Glendale, CA with his wife Sharon who is also Deaf-Blind. He mainstreamed day school with a large deaf program in Cleveland. He prefers to use large print for reading. His list of equipment includes "TDD with large visual display and computer with ZoomText, a software which enlarge and descend the text and picture and also, a closed-circuit TV (CCTV) to read the printed material."

We wish Scott Seigal a very Happy 50th Birthday!!!

I hope we will be able to come up with a compromise in regards to next year's Seder as I'd hate to see two seders taking place at the same time and have the Jewish Deaf community divided. Please do share your thoughts so JDCC Board can determine what we can do to avoid future problems. Please see article in this issue.

JDCC will have a booth at Deaf Expo 2003 in Long Beach, CA on November 7 and 8th. Please do come and visit us. If you are interested in helping out at our booth, contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Wishing you a very happy healthy new year. L'Shana tovah!
